The Dilemma on Parenting: how to model accountability, decrease collusion and increase positive interactions with your children/teen

Abstract

Overview: This presentation will include an interactive discussion with both the audience members and Dr. Meeves will talk on three main talking points: the dilemma of Parenting, the importance of reconciling relationships and communications with your children. Dr. Meeves will guide parents to set up model to foster accountability of your children/teens, to decrease collusion between family members, and to increase positive interactions with your children/teen.

Speaker Biography

Dr. Rick Meeves has been working with teens for 15 years in a variety of clinical and educational settings. Currently, he serves as Executive Director of Outback Therapeutic Expeditions, a therapeutic wilderness program he founded 7 years ago. Rick received his Master's degree in Human Development and the Family from University of Nebraska, where he completed his Master's Thesis in 1994, having studied Marital Conflict in Urban Chinese Couples. He then went onto a Ph.D. at Brigham Young University, In Marriage and Family Therapy. Rick serves extensively in his community and Church, but his greatest work and joy is his family of three boys and a beautiful, wonderful wife of 14 years.
