Abstract:
Our beliefs and values determine how we process emotional information. The cultural influence and parenting practices impact the development of emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence is about all of humanity and it is supported philosophically, psychologically and physiologically. The result of the study on t he influence of culture on parenting practices of East Asian families and the impact on emotional intelligence of older adolescents will be discussed. By understanding this specific culture and the influences, we can better understand a piece of humanity. Those with high emotional intelligence have a distinct way of thinking compared to those with low emotional intelligence. It is also supported in the literature about the different behavioral outcomes. The participants will be able to identify the behavioral traits indicative of high and low emotional intelligence.
