    Abstract:

    • What is stress and where does it come from?
      • What triggers stress?
      • Examine internal and external stressors
    • How do I (or my child/ren) experience stress? How does stress manifest in our lives?
      • Recognizing and tuning in--how we respond to stress--physically and emotionally
      • Signs of stress: how stress presents in kids and adults
    • What can we do to manage stress?
      • Coping strategies
      • Stress reduction
    • How can we teach our kids better coping skills for handling stress? (for parent class)
      • practical skills and support
    • Stress in the lives of some special kids
      • understanding the stress in kids with ADD, ADHD, Asperger's, Depression, Anxiety
      • What makes us different? Knowing the unique stressors of kids with distinctive challenges
      • Identifying distress—signals for help from kids who struggle
      • Responding appropriately

Date : September 24, October 1, October 8(3 classes)

Time: 1:00 - 3:00 pm class for children between 12 – 18

3:15 - 5:15 pm class for adult

Location: Best Western Sunnyvale Inn,

Fees: $300 per person for 6 hours, 3 week classes

Biography:

Ali Zidel Meyers earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan and her Masters in Social Work at the George Warren Brown School of Social Work (at Washington University ) in St. Louis . She graduated with distinction from both universities. She has worked with students with a wide range of learning strengths and challenges in classroom and individual settings for over 10 years. Ali has extensive experience in teaching time management, study, and organizational skills and many other courses to students, from elementary to high school levels and beyond. She is currently teaching in her own company, Meyers Learning Center , with her husband Adam. Ali is also the mother of two children. Her classes are recommended by many psychologists and educational consultants.
